our roots
At Maison Rhizomes, our art rugs are crafted with a deep-rooted purpose, where every material, shape, and texture plays a crucial role in telling a story. Each piece is designed to evoke a profound emotional response and connect with you on a personal level. Our goal is to create an enduring sense of home through a long-lasting and cherished experience with our pieces.
Our collection is the result of a meticulous handmade process that has been passed down through generations. Our Nepalese artisans are highly skilled in bringing our designs to life using traditional production methods, making every rug a unique masterpiece.
a slow process
of beauty
Maison Rhizomes is dedicated to creating art rugs of exceptional quality and beauty through a commitment to using ethically sourced natural materials and meticulous dyeing and hand-knotting techniques. Every piece is a labor of love, going through a series of careful, hands-on steps - from the delicate process of dyeing wool, silk, hemp and linen with natural pigments to the weaving, washing, carving and drying. Each rug takes up to 16 weeks to complete, and no two pieces are exactly alike.
With a focus on limited edition production, our collection is exclusively limited to twenty-two pieces per pattern, ensuring a unique and collectible experience for each customer.
For those who desire a truly bespoke piece, we are happy to collaborate on custom designs tailored to your specific vision and needs.
who we are
In the Nepalese mountains of 2019, fate brought Charlotte Culot and Hannah Vagedes together. Inspired to embark on a new journey, they left behind their old paths and united to establish Maison Rhizomes in 2022. Together, they have created Maison Rhizomes, a studio for hand knotted art rugs that seamlessly blend art and craftsmanship.
